annyeong, we're going to myeongdong!!
but first, yoogane for breakfast to settle our tum tums!
when in korea, it's a MUST to do your hair! i swear by their hair treatments. they last longer than those you do in Singapore for the same price or even lesser. visited Juno Hair because there were many good reviews on it and many bloggers got their hair done here as well. they have many branches all over Seoul so you don't need to worry that you won't see one. the area to wash your hair is exclusive, see those sliding doors behind, and their chair can be reclined! i'm amazed.
also like that we are able to do our hair in such a casual manner, seated altogether on the same table instead of the usual one row all facing the mirror. see the giant hanging thing with the clips behind? those help to hold your hair while they are being curled. really like that because the hair can get quite hot while you're perming, and all the curlers attached onto your hair just weighs down your head. it can get quite uncomfortable sitting in the salon for hours trying to get your hair permed, but not with this! and there were kids doing their hair in the salon as well, no wonder koreans have such nice hair, they start young!
and presentation matters, see how they serve us drinks at the salon! i'm impressed. too bad i never got to eat them :(
and i really love how my curls turned out to be, so natural, soft and korean-like haha! all of us did treatment only by the way. there were 3 tiers, and we chose the lowest one, which cost 120, 000 KRW (divide by 800 to get SGD). the next tier up was 150, 000 KRW, can't remember the last tier. not sure what are the differences as well because we can't understand korean :/
can't resist a selfie because i'm in LOVE with my hair! <3 <3 <3
came out of the salon and found this!
been wanting to have it because it looks so instagram-worthy! this is green tea with yoghurt and strawberry. tastes really good too!
and that's the chocolate one. i prefer the green tea. each cost 3800 KRW as you can tell from the pictures above. and the shop's called Milky Bee.
what goes on behind the scenes.
and it began to rain just after we did our hair :( seek shelter at Milky Bee and continued spamming pictures because our hair is so nice!
couldn't take anymore pictures after because our hands were so full with our purchases. spent half of the cash we brought at myeongdong.
and now you see why. here's the combined loot of yiling and i. and if you've read my previous entry regarding the accommodation, you'll understand why i say there's a lot more space for the twin room. can't wait to try out some of these products! if i ever make it that far as to finish writing about this trip to korea, i'd really want to do an entry on reviewing these products and where to get them.
so these are what i've bought!
these are from laneige. i swear by their water sleeping mask as well. i use them almost every night and they smell really good too. bought 4 tubs and they gave me 4 smaller travel-sized tubs. bought the lip sleeping mask to try as well as my lips tend to peel a lot. was already using the peeling gel so was just topping up my supply. bought the whitening capsule sleeping pack since i got tanner from queueing up for Big Bang's merchandise during the fan meet the other time.
got these from Olive Young, which is something like our Sephora. my friend got me to help her buy the hair oil so i tried it on myself while i was there. why not right. love how it smells and hey, it works to keep the hair smoother and less frizzy! and it's only 6500 KRW for one pack (which includes 1 regular size and 1 travel size bottle). bought the treatment to try as well since it's only 7500 KRW for 2 bottles!! a reputable treatment already cost about SGD 20 over bucks.
and these are from innisfree. replenished my supply of sunblock and got the facial wash and serum for my mum and brother. the eye cream is selling for about SGD 70 but it's only 42 000 KRW (which is about SGD $52). the green tea and sparkling mineral kits were free gifts!!
reviews for the mamonde rose water toner and banila's make up cleanser were good, so yiling and i bought them to try. the toner also comes in a smaller bottle and is selling for one-for-one, but we didn't see it previously :( we had to lug a 500ml one back *worried about luggage weight*. yiling recommended faceshop's ice puff sunblock and i really like the cooling effect so i bought it, and it's selling one-for-one at about 25, 000 KRW for two if i didn't remember wrongly. the holika sun block spray for the body is about SGD 6 after conversion, and it's selling for more than double the price in singapore. bought the mini iron curler for 14, 000 KRW to try out from Olive Young, and the missha handcream was selling for i think 60, 000 KRW for 20 tubes (divided it up with Jielin)! how not to go crazy you tell me.
the saem's concealer was only 4000 KRW and it also has good reviews online so we bought it to try. a decent concealer from say NARS is already 20 to 30 bucks. bought the cream stick blusher to try out as well since everything at saem was quite cheap.
got the eye brow pencil form etude house because i wanted something lighter for my brows. it's a flat tip pencil on one side and powder blender instead of a spoolie on the other side. i always prefer a flat tip pencil because it's easier to draw your brows with. can't wait to try this out! if it's good at least i can get it from singapore, if it's not, at least i bought it cheaper :P
and i can't resist the packaging of the labiotte lipstick so i had to get my hands on it. apparently it's made from real wine, and it smells like wine too. it comes with a sponge blender at the top (just underneath the coloured cap) so it should be easier to do the gradient lips look. combined purchases at labiotte with yiling and got more free gifts! took two small bottle of lip tint. not a fan of lip tint because my lips are dry and they make your lips look even drier. hopefully with the laneige's lip mask it helps. and also because they can be quite hard to apply, though if you can apply it really well, it should achieve the gradient look better than lipsticks.
dinner was at James Cheese Back Ribs. on the second storey of one of the small streets. really good and worth the try if you're into cheese. not sure what was the drink we ordered but i like it as well.
and here's a short clip on what we did so far! taken from my snapchat actually.
if you've watched the clip till the end, you'd have known that we went to Hongdae too! was looking for a restaurant that had makgeolli buffet but we couldn't find it. ended up in a bar ordering beer and fried food.
cheers to girls night out! (too old for clubbing) they check your IDs before you enter by the way. so bring along your passports!
weather in seoul was too hot for autumn. we anticipated it to be around 17 degrees when we arrive and were prepared for the temperature to drop further while we were there so we brought thicker pullovers. but i think global warming happened, it was around 23 to 25 in the morning while we were there, plus there was the sun, and it was about 15 at night. and we drank alcohol so it became even hotter. that explains why i'm holding 2 bottle against my face trying to cool myself down *making excuses* :P
next up, gangnam express bus terminal for shopping and ihwa mural village. stay tuned!
